According to Football Insider, Liverpool has set sights on signing Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli, who has been in terrific form this season.
It has been reported (Football Insider) that the European Champions have been impressed by the performances of the young Brazilian forward and are looking to closely monitor him in the second half of the campaign as well.
Martinelli is naturally a center forward but he has effectively played on the left flank as well (Transfermarkt). This season, the 18-year-old boy has regularly scored for the Gunners when given the chance to shine for the first team.
In the Carabao Cup, he scored a brace vs Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round and also netted twice at Anfield but Liverpool won the contest on penalties. In the Europa League group stages, the youngster started 4 games for the north Londoners and directly contributed in no fewer than 6 goals (3 goals and 3 assists).

As far as the Premier League is concerned, so far, in 5 starts, the South American forward has netted 3 goals (2 in the last 2 outings). In the last game vs Chelsea, the teenage sensation ran the full length of the pitch to score at Stamford Bridge.
Overall, in 11 starts (all competitions) this term, he has directly contributed in 13 goals (10 goals and 3 assists) for Arsenal.
Martinelli’s current contract with the Gunners will expire in 2024 and at the moment he is earning around £10,000-a-week. The Daily Mail has recently reported that the Premier League side is looking to triple the forward’s wages to ward off interest from top clubs. He is valued at around £50million.
“A lot of people talk about his talent, but what people don’t see is that Gabi is a professional. He turns up early every day.”
Firmino is our main striker under the management of Klopp. The Brazilian international scored a crucial winner last night against Wolves and he is an extremely important player for us.
We have Origi to cover for Firmino and the Belgian forward can effectively play on the left-wing as well. Similarly, the likes of Mane, Salah and Minamino can play through the center and out wide.

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez appears to have inadvertently scuppered Liverpool’s January transfer plans, according to reports from Spain.
The Barcelona striker is set to miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
Suarez picked up a knock in his side’s Supercopa de Espana semi-final defeat by Atletico Madrid in Jeddah on Thursday and is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
It read: “The first team player, Luis Suarez, has been operated on this Sunday by Dr. Ramon Cugat, who used keyhole surgery to resolve an injury to the external meniscus of the right knee by performing a suture. The Uruguayan striker will be out for approximately four months.”
According to reports in Spain, Liverpool has been eyeing a deal for out-of-favor Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

The £90million-rated Frenchman has made just nine appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season, with Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Suarez all ahead of him in the pecking order at Camp Nou.
But this could be all set to change given the injury to Suarez, and will no doubt alter Barcelona’s stance on selling Dembele this month. Liverpool got the ball rolling early this January transfer window, signing £7.25million forward Takumi Minamino from Salzburg. The 24-year-old made his Reds debut in the third round of the FA Cup, as Liverpool ran out 1-0 winners over rivals Everton.

Liverpool is expected to be quiet in the January transfer window – but there is one deal being planned by the runaway Premier League leaders.
The Reds have already secured the signing of Takumi Minamino after his impressive form for Red Bull Salzburg. Minamino will unlikely become an instant starter for Jurgen Klopp’s side but will bolster the ranks as they look to get over the finishing line and end their 30-year wait for the title.
With the Japanese moving to Anfield, one exit is also set to go through in January. Rhian Brewster will be allowed to leave to get him more first-team experience. Brewster was promoted to a senior squad regular over the summer as a replacement for Daniel Sturridge after he left on a free.
But he’s failed to get regular games for the leaders, with Divock Origi chief backup to Roberto Firmino and co. And Brewster leaving Liverpool in January is the only deal Star sport expect to be done by the Reds – with no more major incoming or outgoings understood to be lined up.

Swansea is keen on drafting him in after losing Sam Sturridge back to parent club Bournemouth. Swans chief Steve Cooper worked with Brewster while in charge of England’s Under-17 World Cup winners and a reunion could now be on the cards. No deal is likely to go through before the weekend, with Brewster likely to feature in Liverpool’s Merseyside derby FA Cup clash against Everton on Sunday.
“Every year we have the same condition. It is always complicated – we will possibly not be too busy,” said Klopp. On his choices for Sunday’s cup clash, the Liverpool boss added: “We have now 13 outfield players plus now Takumi, but not for this game,” said Klopp.
“We don’t have in all positions huge substitutes, so a few of them have to go again and confidently they can. Ox looks decent, Joel looks decent, Fabinho looks good, Shaqiri looks good and Lovren looks good, but not prepared.”
