]]>Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has extended his contract with the club. According to new deal, Rashford will stay at Old Trafford until the end of 2020 season. The 18-year-old England international had one year left on his previous deal and the new agreement is believed to be worth £20,000 per week. He made his debut for Man Utd in Europa League win over FC Midtjylland in February, in which he scored two goals. He then scored again in his first Premier League match after three days, and overall has scored eight goals in 18 games for Man Utd.
Rashford is included in Roy Hodgson’s 26-man Euro 2016 squad and he also scored on his England debut in a 2-1 win over Australia on Friday. He became the England’s youngest debut scorer when he found net just after 138 seconds against Australia, as England continued their preparations for next month’s tournament in France with a victory over Australia. Roy Hodgson will choose his final 23-man squad for Euro 2016 on Tuesday and let see Rashford is selected by him or not.
“I am thankful for having the opportunity to substantiate myself,” said Rashford. “To have the capacity to play football at one of the biggest club – Man Utd – in the world means everything to me and my family.” Defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who like his team-mate – Rashford – had one year left on his arrangement, also extended his contract with Man Utd, which means he will also stay at the club until 2020. There is a choice to augment both arrangements by a further year.
The 19-year-old Borthwick-Jackson played 14 games under Louis van Gaal this season. Van Gaal was fired two days after Man Utd’s victory in FA Cup final against Crystal Palace and has been replaced by ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Rashford has been spoken to in arrangements by relatives, with guidance from Chris and Wayne Welbeck, siblings of ex-United forward Danny, who now an Arsenal player.

]]>Manchester United have formally announced Jose Mourinho as their new manager, who has signed a three-year contract with the club. He is the successor of Dutchman Louis van Gaal, who was sacked on Monday, just two days after winning the FA Cup for the club. “Jose is absolutely the best supervisor in the game today,” said Man Utd executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward. 53-year-old Mourinho said: “To become Man Utd boss is a great pleasure in the match. It is a club recognized and appreciated worldwide.”
He said he had every time “felt a fondness with Old Trafford” and asserted he has “all the time liked an affinity with the Man Utd fans”. “I’m waiting to being their boss and liking their eminent backing in the future,” he added. There is a charisma and a sentiment about it which no other club can coordinate. Mourinho has been jobless since being dismissed as manager of Premier League club Chelsea in December. “His reputation of progress is perfect to take the club ahead,” said Woodward.
“He has won trophies and motivated players in countries throughout Europe and, obviously, he exceptionally knows about the Premier League, having won three titles here,” Woodward added. The Portuguese’s job confirmed after three days of meetings between his agent, Jorge Mendes, and senior Man Utd authorities. He has already been connected with Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic for signing him at Man Utd, who played under Jose at Inter Milan. Ibrahimovic, who is set to leave Paris St-Germain, said on Thursday that Mourinho “is the man” who can bring Man Utd “back at the top”.
Mourinho won three Premier League titles in his two terms at Chelsea, guided Real Madrid to the La Liga title in 2012, and led Porto and Inter Milan to Champions League wins in 2004 and 2010 respectively. However, he left the Blues in turmoil just seven months after winning the Premier League title, with the club 16th on the points table, only one point above the relegation zone, having blamed a few players for “deceiving” his work.

]]>Louis van Gaal was sacked as Manchester United boss because his side played poor quality football this season. The Red Devils scored just 49 league goals and were criticised for the lack of attacking play as they finished fifth in the Premier League table. Dutchman Van Gaal, 64, said he was “very disappointed” to leave, but added “the foundations are firmly in place” to “achieve even greater success”. Jose Mourinho is expected to be named as his successor this week.
The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss is due to hold talks with senior Manchester United officials on Tuesday. It was speculated that Saturday’s FA Cup win over Crystal Palace would be Van Gaal’s last game as Manchester United boss. Old Trafford club finished fourth and fifth in the Premier League in his two seasons in charge, missing out on Champions League qualification this term to Manchester City.
In a statement confirming Van Gaal’s sacking on Monday night, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward praised the Dutchman’s “great professionalism and dignity” and thanked him for his “excellent work”. Manchester United added a decision on a successor “will be announced soon”, with Mourinho, 53, and agent Jorge Mendes expected to be in Manchester for talks with senior club officials on Tuesday.
Assistant manager and Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been made an offer to stay but it is not yet known what role that is and whether he will accept. Assistant coaches Max Reckers, Frans Hoek and Albert Stuivenberg have left the club. Van Gaal spent more than £250m during his time at Old Trafford, acquiring players including Angel di Maria, Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay.
The former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss also gave debuts to 14 academy graduates during his spell as manager at Manchester United. They included winger Jesse Lingard, who scored the winner in Saturday’s FA Cup final, and striker Marcus Rashford, who has netted eight goals since making his debut in February. “He leaves us with a legacy of having given several young players the confidence to show their ability on the highest stage,” said Woodward.

The Red Devils win their first FA Cup since 2004, when they beat Millwall by 3-0. As Wembley was covered with rising rumor this would be Louis van Gaal’s last game as Manchester United boss – with the expectations that he will be replaced by Jose Mourinho next week – he has included most spectacular cup of English football to his honours list.
It seemed that Manchester United are on the way to end the season with empty hands and in addition missing out on Champions League football – as they finished the Premier League season at fifth – when substitute Jason Puncheon’s strong header gave Crystal Palace lead with 12 minutes remaining. It was severe on United, when Marouane Fellaini and Antony Martial hit the woodwork, however they reacted within four minutes with a splendid run from Wayne Rooney that finished with Juan Mata scoring from close range.
Manchester United’s Smalling sent-off on a second yellow card for pulling back Yannick Bolasie in extra time – however Jesse Lingard helped the Old Trafford club to lift the trophy with his first-time strike from Damien Delaney’s half-clearance after 110 minutes. All the messages in and around Wembley Stadium before and during this FA Cup final indicated this Wembley masterpiece denoting the end of Van Gaal’s unexceptional two-year spell in charge.
At the time when his anticipated replacement with Mourinho is affirmed, the 64-year-old Dutchman can at any rate assume delight and acknowledgment for returning Manchester United on the ways of winning trophy for the first time since the resignation of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. And this was another display in a way that has turned into their FA Cup template this season, driving on through times of difficulty to in the long run leave the other side successful, something for which Van Gaal deserves acclaim.

]]>Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal thinks winning the FA Cup will be more remarkable for his team than qualifying for the Champions League. The Red Devils failed to get a place in the Europe’s top club competition subsequent to finish the Premier League season at fifth. But they have the opportunity to win a trophy when they will face Crystal Palace in the cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. “Qualification is not a title. But FA Cup is a title,” said Van Gaal.
It is vital for the players. They can see on and hold the cup that is a happy moment and particularly here in England because the FA Cup is a major title. “Furthermore for Manchester United it is a major title, because the club won last FA Cup in 2004 so that is quite a while prior,” Van Gaal added. He still has uncertain future at Old Trafford. After the last league game against Bournemouth on Tuesday, the Dutchman said that he wanted to see out the rest of his three-year contract at Manchester United.
Ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho keeps on being connected with Manchester United. Van Gaal, however, was keen not to be drawn on the assumption about his future, saying his emphasis is just on winning the first piece of silverware for Manchester United since Sir Alex Ferguson resigned in 2013. “A club like Manchester United needs silverware,” he added.
It is bad to talk about my concern. For the club it is significant and it is more significant for the players and, obviously, for the administrator and staff it is more significant. But the most significant for the club. The most intriguing point is that we can win something. We are very close but when you do not win, you don’t have anything. First we need to win, then you can say it is the first silverware after Alex Ferguson’s reign.

Wayne Rooney put Man Utd ahead with a right footed shot just before break, which was assisted by Anthony Martial. Then Rashford doubled the lead in 74th-minute with the help of Antonio Valencia.
Rooney created third for Man Utd which was converted by Ashley Young with three minutes from the time. Now the Red Devils have their eyes on the FA Cup final which they will play against Crystal Palace on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.
Van Gaal, who still have an insecure future at club, is intending to guide Man Utd to their first major trophy since the Premier League title under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. The youngster was mostly unidentified for the majority of the first half, overseeing only 12 touches as he was famished of service.
However, the match’s first snippet of value came when Rashford again failed to touch the ball – a sublime dummy for Rooney’s opener, his 100th goal at Old Trafford. The youngster demonstrated fully developed consciousness to leave Anthony Martial’s pass, after the France international’s flawless one-two with Juan Mata, for his captain to put in from close range. Rashford looked energetic when the teams came back after the break, his sharp effort and ebullient ability giving Man Utd happiest moments.

He has been under extreme pressure since December and ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is known to have talked with Man Utd authorities.
Man Utd, who proclaimed record third quarter results on Friday and said they anticipate that overall income will pass £500m for the year, know they will lose the opportunity of Champions League for the second time in three seasons if Manchester City not lose their last match of the season at Swansea City on Sunday. While having a place in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on 21 May, Van Gaal says taking the fight for a top four spot to the last match represents some level of progress.
“FA Cup final is in our hands,” he said. “And we are still the contenders. What number of teams can say that? Not many. Our purpose was to qualify. Obviously you can say Man Utd should be champions, yes I know the desires are that way however I don’t imagine that is pragmatic.” Van Gaal repeated his statement that the media “sacked” him six months ago.
And whether he departs or stays at Man Utd, Van Gaal has already been seriously involved in the preparations for the 2016-17 season, decreasing the club’s pre-season tour to six entire days and two matches in China. He additionally knows the region he needs to fortify, having backed out of a potential arrangement for Renato Sanches, who joined Bayern Munich from Benfica on Tuesday. “I don’t think too much improvement is required,” he said. “However we require quick, inventive players in assault. That is the thing that I said before this season,” he added.

Manchester United beat Everton by 2-1 in the first semi-final at Wembley on Saturday and reached into a record-equalling 19th FA Cup final. In the second semi-final on Sunday, Crystal Palace knocked-out Watford after a hard-fought 2-1 win. The final match on 21 May will be a repeat of the 1990 final, which United won after a replay.
Marouane Fellaini put Manchester United ahead in the first-half with a goal from close range – but they were then very thankful to goalkeeper David de Gea as he superbly saved the penalty of Romelu Lukaku early in the second half. Everton revitalized following an inactive first half that saw them sneered off in the break and they levelled the score with 15 minutes left when Chris Smalling redirected Gerard Deulofeu’s shot into his own net. Then Anthony Martial’s stoppage time header on Ander Herrera’s poked pass prevented the game to go into the extra time and gave manager Louis van Gaal a much needed victory.
Yannick Bolasie gave Crystal Palace the lead in the 6th-minute at Wembley on Sunday when Damien Delaney flipped on Yohan Cabaye’s shot. Watford, who lost midfielder Etienne Capoue due to injury in the early part of game, drew level when Troy Deeney bobbed home on Jose Manuel Jurado’s corner. Then Connor Wickham confirmed Crystal Palace’s place in their first FA Cup final since 1990 on Pape Souare’s cross shot six minutes later. In 1990 final, manager Alan Pardew was a part of Crystal Palace team when they also faced Manchester United and they lost to the Red Devils by 1-0 in the replay after a thrilling 3-3 draw in the original tie.

]]>Manchester United have reached in the FA Cup semi-finals after beating West Ham United by 2-1 in a quarter-final replay at Upton Park on Wednesday. Now the Red Devils will face Everton in the semi-final at Wembley Stadium on 23 April. In the final FA Cup game at Upton Park before the Hammers move to the Olympic Stadium, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal once again engineered a result when he needed it most.
After a goalless first half, Marcus Rashford gave Van Gaal’s men the lead within ten minutes of the second half, the 18-year-old collecting a pass from Anthony Martial before curling a magnificent finish into the top corner past West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph. And when Marouane Fellaini bundled in Martial’s cross 13 minutes later it looked all over – only for West Ham to mount a fierce siege in the closing minutes.
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who gave a virtuoso display, had already saved superbly from Michail Antonio when James Tomkins stooped bravely among flying footwear to head in and give West Ham hope with 11 minutes left. The hosts finally hammered at United’s defence with De Gea saving once more from Andy Carroll and Cheikhou Kouyate, the latter ruled narrowly offside as he headed in a rebound. De Gea was at his best for Manchester United, making eight saves which included a fantastic double save to deny Kouyate and Carroll.
With England and club captain Wayne Rooney coming on for the final four minutes in his first appearance in two months after a knee injury, it ended as a very satisfactory night for Van Gaal and his side. Manchester United defender Phil Jones described this tie as a “defining moment” in their season – and manager Van Gaal has had plenty of those as he has been surrounded by speculation about his future.

]]>Manchester United defensive player Luke Shaw came back on training on Monday for the first time since breaking his leg almost seven months ago. The England left-back, 20, suffered a double fracture in the Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven in September. Shaw’s come back was verified by Man Utd team-mate Juan Mata, who posted a picture of the pair on Instagram. “My friend Luke Shaw just came in from running out on the pitch! Getting closer,” added the Spain midfielder.
Shaw is still in contention for Euro 2016, according to England manager Roy Hodgson. Hodgson wants Man Utd to allow Shaw, an England regular before the injury, to prove his fitness before naming his squad on 12 May. However, Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal said last week he does not think Shaw will play for the team before the tournament. Meanwhile, Phil Jones made his return in Monday’s 1-1 under-21 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Jones, who has been out for three months, played in central defence for 75 minutes before being replaced. The 24-year-old has been picked for every England squad he has been fit for since the last World Cup. Man Utd are fifth in the Premier League table with 53 points, just one point behind from their local rivals Manchester City who are at fourth. They moved to fifth place after beating Everton by 1-0 on Sunday at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial was the man who scored for Man Utd against the Toffees on the day they named a stand after Sir Bobby Charlton.
Martial’s goal was the 1,000th Man Utd have scored at Old Trafford in the Premier League and that goal kept them in the chase for a Champions League place. Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal has described his side’s win over Everton as a “stolen victory”. They had only two shots on target but Martial’s close-range finish was enough to earn three points. “We did not play so well,” said Van Gaal. “We did not create many chances. Everton are a very good team, much stronger away than at home, and it was a very tight game. We were the lucky team today,” he added.
