Brazilian superstar Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior has been the subject of much speculation recently, as rumours of a possible transfer from Barcelona to Manchester United continue to circulate. A reported bid of £165m is being put together by Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, which if it happened would shatter the world transfer record. After a highly successful season at Barca, and with president Josep Maria Bartomeu saying he wants Neymar to end his career at the Nou Camp, it’s looking that this may be a case of Neymar’s agents looking for a better deal for the brilliant 23-year-old forward. United had also been heavily linked to Real Madrid’s Spanish international defender Sergio Ramos earlier in the summer, but Ramos later agreed a new deal with the Real Madrid club.
Neymar was the poster boy of Brazil’s 2014 World Cup campaign
An exclusive in today’s Sun says that Manchester United ‘won’t flinch’ at a £240m deal for Barcelona star Neymar.
The fee isn’t quite as eye-watering as it sounds – £75m of that includes wages over a five year contract – but it is still a hefty chunk of money.
According to the article, United want to make the Brazilian the global face of the club.
