Jordan Henderson started playing for Liverpool F.C. in 2011. He was born on 17 June 1990. He took the role of captain for the Reds and also plays for the England National Team. The position he is usually placed in is central midfielder – a position where he has the most impact as a player.
Henderson started his professional football career when he was signed with Sunderland in 2008. He was loaned to Coventry City in 2009. After his time with Coventry City, he joined the Premier League team, Liverpool F.C., in 2011. His character and performance led to his naming as captain of the team in 2015 after Steven Gerrard left. He received his first cap for the England football team in 2010, previously captaining the under-21 team. Henderson transferred to the Liverpool Football Club on June 9 2011 in a deal believed to be between £16 and £20 million. His first game in his new team was against his old team Sunderland in the 2011-12 Premier League season. They drew the game 1-1. Henderson’s first goal came in the home game against Bolton Wanderers at Anfield. In the 2012 Football League Cup Final that Liverpool won, he was put into the right of midfield position before being substituted at the 58th minute mark. In the next final at the 2012 FA Cup against Chelsea, he played the entire game duration but Liverpool ended up losing 2-1. In August 2012, Henderson rejected an offer to join Fullham and on 6 December 2012 he scored his first goal in the UEFA Europa League against Udinese. He became a regular player in the Liverpool squad during the 2013-14 season. He played for his team Liverpool in 35 matches during the Premier League before being given his first red card on 13 April 2014 in a game against Manchester City, missing three of the last four matches for his team.
After the departure of Daniel Agger, Jordan Henderson was named vice-captain of the Reds after providing two assist in the first three games of the club’s season and proving himself in over a 100 games for his team. His 150th match for Liverpool saw him scoring the third goal in the 3-1 win against Leicester City.
Henderson was finally named team captain on June 2015 as Steven Gerrard stepped down. He had problems with his heel and underwent surgery only playing regularly again in the 2016-17 season.
