Malta vs Spain Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

The 2012 European champions should be backed for a goal-filled victory when they visit the Ta’ Qali National Stadium in Attard on Tuesday evening

Spain travel to Malta on this week looking for their second victory in Euro 2020 qualifying. Luis Enrique’s men overcame Norway 2-1 in Valencia at the weekend, although there was a familiar problem on display for La Roja at Mestalla.

Despite dominating possession, Spain failed to capitalise with goals and needed a Sergio Ramos penalty 19 minutes from the end to secure the win.

Latest odds

The visitors will surely win in Malta on Tuesday yet they will be aiming to do so in style, and Spain are offered at just 3/100 (1.03) with 888Sport to claim three points.

Malta were also in action at the weekend, beating the Faroe Islands 2-1 for what was only their second triumph in their last 34 matches. The hosts can be backed at 50/1 (51.00) with the draw at 20/1 (21.00) .

Team news

Spain came through the game on Saturday against Norway without any injuries. Getafe striker Jaime Mata made his debut against the Norwegians and could be preferred to Alvaro Morata in the starting eleven.

Preview

In an incredibly one-sided market, it is difficult to find much value in backing the visitors. Spain should be capable of recording a comfortable win against a Malta side that has lost 5-0 against Kosovo, 5-0 against Finland and 4-0 against England in recent years.

In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, La Roja beat Liechtenstein 8-0 both home and away. Malta may be fractionally stronger than their fellow minnows but not by much, and so we should still have confidence in backing the visitors to rack up the goals.

Tips and predictions

Spain are offered at 19/20 (1.95) to win with a -3.75 Asian handicap and that looks like an interesting option for this game. This bet pays out in full if Luis Enrique’s team win by five goals or more, while providing us with half our winnings if they win by four goals.
