But he insists he is not content with just getting the records, having also surpassed Alan Shearer to register the most hat-tricks in the Premier League, adding that he his hungry for more.

“I am so happy for the record, but thank my team-mates because they help me,” he said, speaking to Sky Sports after the win at Villa Park.

“It shows when I scored the second and then I thought one more, I want to keep scoring more goals, but all the time it depends on my team-mates. If he passes to me it’s fine.”

He has some way to go to become the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer, with Alan Shearer leading the way with 260, but Aguero had a message for the rest of the top flight.

“I will try,” he said.

“It is far to Shearer with so many goals, but I will try.”
