The City striker became the highest scoring non-British striker in the history of the Premier League after netting a hat-trick for Pep Guardiola’s men in a 6-1 thrashing of Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Aguero scored three times as Manchester City ran riot against Villa, with the Argentine taking his tally of goals in the English top-flight to 177, eclipsing the 175 Henry scored for Arsenal.
The South American has now moved ahead of Henry’s tally to become the joint fourth-highest goalscorer in Premier League history, moving level with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and to within ten goals of former Newcastle United and Manchester United striker Andy Cole.
But he insists he is not content with just getting the records, having also surpassed Alan Shearer to register the most hat-tricks in the Premier League, adding that he his hungry for more.
“I am so happy for the record, but thank my team-mates because they help me,” he said, speaking to Sky Sports after the win at Villa Park.
“It shows when I scored the second and then I thought one more, I want to keep scoring more goals, but all the time it depends on my team-mates. If he passes to me it’s fine.”
He has some way to go to become the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer, with Alan Shearer leading the way with 260, but Aguero had a message for the rest of the top flight.
“I will try,” he said.
“It is far to Shearer with so many goals, but I will try.”
