Good for Spurs: Man United & Ole Gunnar Solskjaer contract update

Man United & Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to the Daily Mail, Man United are poised to announce Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new full-time manager imminently.

The Mail have reported the following on Tuesday:

Manchester United are close to appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their permanent manager.

United were remaining tight-lipped on Monday night, but it’s understood they could confirm Solskjaer as full-time boss this week.

Solskjaer has won 14 of 19 matches since replacing Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dugout.

Moreover, Man United are fourth in the Premier League while hey’ve advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Saying that, Man United have lost their last two matches against Arsenal an Wolves.

Good for Tottenham

Working on the basis that the Mail’s update is accurate, Tottenham fans will be relieved.

In the immediate aftermath of Mourinho’s sacking, Mauricio Pochettino was hailed by everyone as the go-to pick for the Red Devils.

However it now seems certain that Pochettino will remain with Spurs for the foreseeable future.

Why would Man United appoint OGS now?

That’s a bit puzzling.

While Solskjaer has no-doubt defied expectations since moving into the Man United dugout, the club had previously indidcated that they’d only make a decision on their next manager in the summer.

The Daily Mail try to explain why Man United may have altered their position:

United have always maintained that a decision would be made before the end of the season, but an announcement could come earlier to end any speculation.

But is that really a satisfactory answer?
