Man United may hijack Leicester’s Youri Tielemans signing

Leicester City & Youri Tielemans

Youri Tielemans claimed his fourth assist of the season with Leicester last weekend.

Tielemans teed up Jamie Vardy during a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at the King Power Stadium.

The Belgian international midfielder is currently on a hot streak.

In his last five matches for the Foxes, Tielemans has four assists and a goal.

Tielemans joined Leicester City on a six month loan contract from Monaco in January.

Adrien Silva left the King Power Stadium in a swap deal.

The 21-year-old Belgian international is under contract at Monaco until 2022.

Man United may hijack Tielemans signing

According to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, Man United are paying close attention to what Tielemans is doing at Leicester. Readers are told:

Manchester United could challenge Leicester for the signature of Youri Tielemans this summer after adding the midfielder to a ‘long list’ of targets.

Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on the former Anderlecht star, who is rated at £40million by his club.

Tottenham are also name-dropped as a possible suitor for Tielemans.

A cynic may argue that Man United and Tottenham’s supposed interest may have the effect of pushing up Tielemans’ asking price in any deal with Leicester.

Tielemans drops hint over Leicester future

During the international break, Tielemans was asked about his future with Leicester. He said:

I don’t see my time in Monaco as a failure at all. It just didn’t work out this season.

I have become a much better player there.

I also think it’s just good to return next summer. I am open to a lot. Also for an extended stay in Leicester, though.

We’ll see what happens. I wait and do my best on the field. After that we will see what is coming.
